Canada and the United States have agreed to temporarily close their border to “all nonessential travel” in a move to stem the coronavirus but trade will not be affected.

As a result, lumber shipments into the U.S. should continue unabated.

In a tweet announcing the action, President Trump said: “We will be, by mutual consent, temporarily closing our Northern Border with Canada to non-essential traffic. Trade will not be affected. Details to follow!”

NAHB will continue to closely monitor the situation.
