GHBA is excited to welcome one of the newest members of the team, our part-time Office Manager Ashley Barras. Ashley works with us a few days a week at the front desk! Please stop by and get to know her, or read her interview with Aimee Bertrand, GHBA’s CEO, here.
Aimee Bertrand: Where did you grow up?
Ashley Barras: I grew up in Bryan, Texas. Right in the heart of the Brazos Valley! I loved where I grew up. Bryan-College Station (which are twin cities) offer big-city amenities, but with a small-town feel.
If you ever visit, you must go to a Texas A&M football game of course and First Friday’s Downtown Bryan, if you enjoy live music and great food, it’s the place to be!
Aimee: Tell us about your work away from GHBA.
Ashley: When I’m not in the office, you can find me showing homes on the weekends, writing up contracts and actively staying involved in my community…whether it be attending my neighborhood’s HOA meetings or helping my broker with local events.

Aimee: Do you have a favorite memory from childhood?
Ashley: My favorite childhood memory would have to be visiting the Hill Country every summer with family and friends. We stayed all over, from Boerne to Leakey…but my favorite place was Bandera.
We would float the Medina River, stay up late putting together puzzles, and playing cards with good food and great company. The original home we stayed in had no televisions or phones. We were so busy spending time together, we never noticed. Those were much simpler times.
Aimee: What made you decide to come to work for GHBA?
Ashley: I feel very blessed to work for GHBA. The recognizable name in the industry was one of the first things that caught my attention. I heard nothing but amazing things about GHBA from working in the industry.
I liked that we have charitable events, this gives me an opportunity participate in community outreach. I have also worked for a few GHBA members and last year I attended the Million Dollar Circle awards. It was a great time!
Aimee: What events are you looking forward to working on with the GHBA Team and why?
Ashley: PRISM Awards! It will be fun to be a part of a black-tie gala event. It’s going to be big and annual awards will be presented.
Aimee: Do you have any pets?
Ashley: I do not have pets. I’m very busy with my three children. I did grow up with mastiffs as our family dogs. Maybe in the future we will add a pet to the family.
Aimee: What do you do when you are away from the office?
Ashley: I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and all Houston sports games.
Aimee: What is your go-to restaurant recommendation for guests from out-of-town?
Ashley: My husband and I enjoy going to The Rouxpour—great service and amazing food!
Aimee: Is there anything else you would like to share with our members?
Ashley: I’m excited to work at GHBA and cannot wait to meet everyone and put names to faces!
