Prediction: There will be a shortage of purple dresses, shirts and ties this fall in Houston-area clothing stores.
Retailers aren’t going to know why the surge in all things purple, but we will — our Prince-themed Houston’s Best PRISM Awards happening Oct. 5. And this year, the event will be bigger than ever as the venue has been switched to the George R. Brown Convention Center.
Why the change of venue? Well, if you’ve attended PRISM the last few years (or waited too long to get tickets), you’ll know that we’ve been a nearly overflowing house as hundreds of guests showed up to toast the very best people, builders and developers in the Houston area. Our new venue will give us more room and allow for more attendees. (But we still recommend getting those tickets soon, especially since early registration ends Sept. 16.)

And while many people drive in just for the show, why not make it a stay-cay? Both Hilton Americas-Houston and the Marriott Marquis Houston are a three-minute walk from the convention center. Or really pamper yourself and stay at the Four Seasons, which is less than half a mile away.
Discovery Green is right across the street and the much-talked about Finn Food Hall and Bravery Chef Hall are less than a mile from the convention center. Check in to your hotel early and enjoy the afternoon before putting on your PRISM purple.
So, make plans to join us for our biggest night of the year. Purple isn’t really required — we’re sure “U Got the Look” with or without it. See you there. We’re gonna party like it’s 1999!
