Chesmar Homes has joined the 2020 GHBA Benefit Homes team as the builder of their seventh home for this 40-year-old charity fundraiser. Chesmar did not let the challenges of a COVID-19 pandemic deter them from committing to this charity build. Led by President Scott Merovitch, Chesmar will donate the construction management of the Hillcrest Plan in Lago Mar, a Land Tejas development. This lot will be Land Tejas’ 18th lot donation.

“Chesmar and the ‘Chesmarian’ team have shown their deep commitment to giving back to the community through various charitable organizations,” said Casey Morgan, CEO of the GHBA.

“Chesmar’s Don Klein and Scott Merovitch have led the Benefit Homes team to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities. GHBA is grateful and honored to have them as part of the team for 2020, especially during such a difficult year for all industries,” she added.

Hundreds of GHBA members have participated in the Benefit Homes Project throughout its history. Two to three homes are built with donated materials, labor, services, and time. The Benefit Homes Project has raised nearly $12 million since it began.

The Hillcrest is a one-story design that features four bedrooms with a game room option, three baths, a two-car attached garaged, and a covered patio.

An extended foyer leads to open casual dining, a family room, and an island kitchen with additional countertop dining. Bedroom three can serve as a second master. The study is convenient to the common area and the master suite.

“When you consider that Benefit Homes are built even during difficult times such as today with COVID-19, that says something about the hearts of the individuals in our industry who make this project a success year after year,” said Rob Hellyer, president of the GHBA.

The groundbreaking ceremony is being planned for a date sometime in the late fall. The 2020 Benefit Homes’ beneficiaries are HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home (OFH).
