Remodelers’ Charity Work Day Benefits Casa de Esperanza Foster Mother

admin Charity Projects, Member News, Remodelers

On Saturday, April 30, the GHBA Remodelers Council, led by Sherry Pruitt, CGR, CAPS, with Whodid It Design, completed the 2016 Charity Project at the Casa de Esperanza – Mary Scalise home. The RMC volunteers made much-needed updates and improved the functionality, safety and beauty of the foster mother’s home.

Mary is an employee of Casa de Esperanza who has adopted four children from Casa de Esperanza. The youngest, Luke, has significant disabilities (cerebral palsy) and is wheelchair bound. The project added wheelchair accessibility to the home, as well as a much-needed first-floor bathroom with roll-in shower. Additionally, the crew updated the kitchen with new cabinets, countertops and appliances and painted and replaced flooring on the first floor.

The annual charity project is funded through the Remodelers Council Garage Sale held at the Texas Home & Garden Show at NRG Center in September. We are accepting donations at two Bison Building Material locations (Dart Street and Conroe). It is not too early to donate to a great cause!
