Why Join the Custom Builders Council?

In March of 1997, ten custom builders of the Greater Houston Builders Association met for the purpose of discussing challenges faced by custom builders today, and how a Custom Builders Council could address these challenges while providing members with hands-on information they could incorporate in their everyday business activities. Today, the Custom Builders Council has grown to more than 150 members, all of whom are GHBA members and custom builders. Issues and opportunities addressed include contract standardization, education programs, political updates, builder/realtor relations, codes and standards, and co-op purchasing.

What can the council do for me?

The Custom Builders Council offers a valuable referral network. Council members enjoy the benefit of being identified as reputable builders and upholding standards of practice as well as offering a unified "quality" image to the buying public. Other benefits of joining the council include:

•    Standardized contracts
•    Various discounts to members, such as saving 10-15% on Builders Risk Insurance

Mission Statement

The mission of the Custom Builders Council is to form an alliance among custom builders to achieve the highest level of professionalism and integrity; to offer our customers quality construction and excellent customer service in the industry; to offer continuing education to enhance our abilities; to provide an open forum for communication and exchanging ides; and to strengthen our political position to help our industry. We pledge to:

•    Set high standards for membership and renewals.
•    Promote and support political issues, candidates, and legislators who promote and support our industry.
•    Help develop and promote improved products, and create safer job sites.
•    Promote active membership in the GHBA and the Custom Builders Council.
•    Develop a unified, competitive purchasing power through co-op purchasing.
•    Offer continuing education.
•    Develop and promote a positive public relations campaign.
•    Increase public awareness of the "custom" product and "custom" builders.

The Council meets the third Wednesday of every month at 11:30 a.m.
