
The mission of the Codes and Standards Committee is to assist and educate the membership of the GHBA on technical matters relating to residential construction, codes, standards, methods, and procedures for the benefit of the consumers they serve. The Codes & Standards Committee meetings are open to all GHBA members and local municipal building officials.
The Committee:
• Led the effort to adopt the International Residential Code (IRC);
• Works on issues ranging from building codes to privatizing inspections and mold remediation;
• Is active on the Construction Industry Council (CIC) reviewing codes for the City of Houston;
• Provides a forum for members and building officials to exchange ideas and information.
