City of Houston Implements Service Improvements for New Single-Family Residential Plan Submissions

adminAdvocacy, Codes, Custom Builders

Service improvements will be implemented Monday, Dec. 12 for submission of new single-family residential construction plans to the City of Houston. In an effort to decrease the number of repeat plan submittals due to missing requirements, Building Code Enforcement has assigned a Regulatory Compliance Coordinator (RCC) to screen all plans for requirements upon submission.

Beginning Dec. 12, customers submitting both paper and electronic plans must include a completed prerequisite checklist to ensure all requirements have been met. Notification of the status of plans will be sent via email within two business days.

Also beginning Dec. 12, customers will have the option to schedule a pre-submittal meeting with the RCC for new single-family residential projects in which plans have yet to be submitted. The RCC will not be available to consult on previously submitted plans. Meetings can be requested online using the Online Queuing Service appointment scheduler: select Building Plan Review, then Single Family Residential.
