Alisa Merritt Joins GHBA as Government Affairs Coordinator

The association is proud to welcome Alisa Merritt to Team GHBA as the new government affairs coordinator. Alisa will act as the staff liaison for the Codes & Standards Committee and the Young Professionals Committee. She will also support the government affairs director, Bradley Pepper, with the Developers Council, Government Affairs Committee and HOME-PAC.

Alisa is a 2005 graduate of Texas A&M University having earned degrees in Political Science and Psychology. Shortly after graduation she moved to Washington, D.C. and joined the office of Senator John Cornyn. Alisa served in various capacities during her seven years with the senator including, correspondence manager and legislative aide. In this role, Alisa worked closely with senior staff members to craft the senator’s message on a variety of issues of interest to constituents and was able to successfully monitor the response to approximately 100,000 pieces of mail weekly.

In 2012, she relocated back to the Houston area and in 2013 she joined the senator’s reelection campaign as his political scheduler and Houston area field staff. After successfully securing the senator’s third term in the U.S. Senate, Alisa spent some time working for a non-profit therapeutic riding center, assisting in their development efforts and special events.

Alisa is married to her husband of three years, Keith, and together they enjoy spending time with their black lab, Maddy, and Hank, a quarter horse.
