Community of the Year - Under 2,500 developed acres

Presented to a Developer for the Best Overall Marketing and Presentation of a Residential Community. Judging criteria includes functional design, sensitivity to natural or created environments, design appeal, creative use of space, material, amenities, architectural continuity, landscape design, signage and community site planning. The community must include homes built in the 2007 calendar year. This category is for communities planned for residential space only. Community must be available for on-site judging, one day, between March 12, 2008 and March 15, 2008.  You will be notified with your assigned judging day after February 12, 2008.  No entrant will be allowed to observe the judging of entries. Only judges, GHBA staff and representatives will be allowed to observe the judging.

Custom Home Front Elevation of the Year

The CUSTOM HOME FRONT ELEVATION of the Year Award will be judged on overall design, attention to design detail, scale, balance, function, style and value. This home is one for which the builder does not have a furnished model for the general public in the Houston area. The home must have been for sale or sold in 2007. It cannot be "the builder's residence". This award is intended for the low volume custom home builders closing 50 homes or less per year.  Home must be available for on-site judging of the front elevation only, one day, between March 12, 2008 and March 15, 2008.  Judges will not enter the house while judging Custom Home Front Elevation, however if home is gated someone must be present to allow judges to enter gate. You will be notified with your assigned judging day after February 12, 2008.  No entrant will be allowed to observe the judging of entries. Only judges, GHBA staff and representatives will be allowed to observe the judging.

Custom Kitchen of the Year

The CUSTOM HOME Kitchen of the Year Award will be judged on overall design, attention to design detail, scale, balance, function, style and value. This home is one for which the builder does not have a furnished model for the general public in the Houston area. The home must have been for sale or sold in 2007. It cannot be "the builder's residence". This award is intended for the low volume custom home builders closing 50 homes or less per year.

CUSTOM HOME Awards will be presented based on sales price categories and judged on overall design, attention to design detail, scale, balance, function, style and value. This home is one for which the builder does not have a furnished model for the general public in the Houston area. The home must have been for sale or sold in 2007. It cannot be "the builder's residence". This award is intended for the low volume custom home builders closing 50 homes or less per year.

Garden Home - Patio Home of the Year – Custom Builder

GARDEN HOME - PATIO HOME – Custom Builder will be awarded based on overall design, attention to detail, scale, balance, function, style, value and sales results. The home must have been for sale or sold in 2007.

Garden Home - Patio Home of the Year – Volume Builder

GARDEN HOME - PATIO HOME – Volume Builder will be awarded based on overall design, attention to detail, scale, balance, function, style, value and sales results. The home must have been for sale or sold in 2007. Home must be available for on-site judging, one day, between March 12, 2008 and March 15, 2008.  You will be notified with your assigned judging day after February 12, 2007.  No entrant will be allowed to observe the judging of entries. Only judges, GHBA staff and representatives will be allowed to observe the judging.

Interior Design of the Year

INTERIOR DESIGN Awards will be presented for interior design based on sales price categories. Each entry will be judged on how the use of color, texture, interior space, furniture, accessories, windows, and wall treatments appeal to the product's specific target market in the most cost effective manner. Entries must have been opened for public tours during 2007. Model must be available for on-site judging, one day, between March 12, 2008 and March 15, 2008.  You will be notified with your assigned judging day after February 12, 2008.  No entrant will be allowed to observe the judging of entries. Only judges, GHBA staff and representatives will be allowed to observe the judging.

Model Home Park Design of the Year

MODEL HOME PARK Award Will be Presented for the Best Overall Model Home Park. Entries will be judged on the most complete, functional, appealing and pertinent execution of sales office design, on-site signage, model park approach, traffic flow and cost effectiveness. Model Park must have been opened for sales in 2007. Model Home Park must be available for on-site judging, one day, between March 12, 2008 and March 15, 2008.  You will be notified with your assigned judging day after February 12, 2008.  No entrant will be allowed to observe the judging of entries. Only judges, GHBA staff and representatives will be allowed to observe the judging.

Planned Community - Neighborhood of the Year

Presented to a Developer for the Best Overall Marketing and Presentation of a Neighborhood. Judging criteria includes functional design, sensitivity to natural or created environments, design appeal, creative use of space, material, amenities, architectural continuity, landscape design, signage and neighborhood site planning. The neighborhood must include homes built in the 2007 calendar year. This category is for neighborhood planned for residential space only. The neighborhood must be available for on-site judging, one day, between March 12, 2008 and March 15, 2008. You will be notified with your assigned judging day after February 12, 2008. No entrant will be allowed to observe the judging of entries. Only judges, GHBA staff and representatives will be allowed to observe the judging.

Product Design of the Year

Remodeling Design of the Year

REMODELING DESIGN Awards will be based on single room or multiple room categories and judged on overall design, attention to detail, scale, balance, function, style and value. Project must have been completed in 2007.

Sales Information Center of the Year

SALES CENTER Award will be presented for the most complete, functional, appealing and pertinent execution of central sales design, on-site signage, approach, traffic flow and cost effectiveness. Sales Center must have been opened for sales in 2007. Sales Center must be available for on-site judging, one day, between March 12, 2008 and March 15, 2008.  You will be notified with your assigned judging day after February 12, 2008. No entrant will be allowed to observe the judging of entries. Only judges, GHBA staff and representatives will be allowed to observe the judging.

Town Home of the Year – Volume Builder

TOWN HOME of the Year – Volume Builder will be awarded based on overall design, attention to detail, scale, balance, function, style, value and sales results. The home must have been for sale or sold in 2007. Home must be available for on-site judging, one day, between March 12, 2008 and March 15, 2008.  You will be notified with your assigned judging day after February 12, 2008.  No entrant will be allowed to observe the judging of entries. Only judges, GHBA staff and representatives will be allowed to observe the judging.
